GIG LISTINGS

  • We have a keys led Portals favourite returning for a headline show on the 1st May, along with a couple of other brilliant Bristol bands, this time at Signature Brew Haggerston.

Hexcut blend elements of rock, modern jazz and electronica in a unique, genre-defying sound. Combining technical precision with strong hooks and expansive electronic soundscapes, their music moves from dark and heavy to uplifting and immersive.

FFO: Gogo Penguin, Ishmael Ensemble, Three Trapped Tigers

Jakobol are a Bristol based experimental outfit carving their own path through a kaleidoscopic, genre bending, musical world. They are as at home in the landscape of pastoral folk as they are in the maelstrom of heavily distorted metal and psych rock freak outs.

FFO: Lankum, OM, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Intoku are a Bristol-based dark electronic trio crafting emotionally charged, genre-blurring soundscapes. Formed through a decade-long collaboration, they fuse seismic basslines, atmospheric synth textures, and explosive hybrid drumming with soaring, soul-baring vocals.

FFO: Massive Attack / Billie Eilish / M83

  • In just a few years, this French experimental / post-rock band has established itself as a key figure on the French post-rock scene, a style the band has absorbed and reshaped through its relentless innovation.

After a standout session at Seattle’s KEXP studios, the French quartet unveiled The Age of Ephemerality in 2025, released via Pelagic Records — an album they will defend on stage in London this May.

FFO: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hans Zimmer, MONO.

"The Age of Ephemerality is a transportative experience throughout and although it may be discomforting, the journey is one worth taking multiple times." (Noizze)

"BRUIT ≤ remain as steadfast and pragmatic when it comes to their socio-politically informed post-rock. The Age Of Ephemerality is horror conveyed through great beauty. (Everything is Noise)

Bio: Mountainscape are a 3 piece instrumental post-metal band from the UK. The band's sound weaves together post-rock and ambient sections with colossal riffs, ethereal melodies and hypnotic blackgaze. You can expect live looped madness presented with technical precision and a room filling energy.

FFO: Russian Circles, We Lost the Sea, Holy Fawn

Fiddle player Owen Spafford and guitarist Louis Campbell play with delicacy, dynamism and seemingly telepathic exchanges, with the startling intimacy of musical conversations nurtured in improv-led writing sessions with elements of jazz, post-rock, and chamber music: post-folk, trad-noir, folk nihilism.

FFO: Talk Talk, Bon Iver, The Gloaming

  • We have teamed up with legendary British alternative / post-rock band yndi halda to co-curate a micro-festival in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of their second album Under Summer.

The evening will culminate with a headline set from yndi halda. The legendary band will be performing their first UK gig for nearly 8 years. While yndi halda have previously worn the mantles of “instrumental” and “post-rock” music - especially with their 2006 debut Enjoy Eternal Bliss - more recent releases have occupied considerably broader territories. The closely-crafted vocal harmonies and new musicalities of their last album Under Summer were continued in follow-up EP A Sun-Coloured Shaker, where their forms are embedded into a symbiotic world in which a love of true songwriting, meticulous post-classical arrangement, contemporary indie, choral music, and transcendent longform structure coexist.

There will also be a medley of various solo projects from members of the band with each project performing a short set, including: A Lily, Kibbo Kift, Dau, SA Hampshire, Incorruptible Bodies & Jack Lambert.

Also performing are instrumental rock quartet Codices, shape-shifting alt-rock outfit Ceann Capaill, alternative rock local heroes Mount Forel, blackgaze rising stars World Coda and experimental artist BAG.

A limited number of early bird tickets are available at £25 (including fees). The regular ticket price is £30.

  • We’re bringing you a stonking progressive lineup to light up The Grace on the 31st July!

Italian outfit Benthos hop across the continent to play RADAR Festival, so we thought we’d bring a taste of that to London. Fusing progressive metal, mathcore, post-hardcore, and psychedelia, their electrifying live shows have won over crowds across Europe, from supporting Between The Buried And Me on their 2025 summer tour to Euroblast Festival.

FFO: The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Mars Volta, Arcane Roots

Joining them are Bristol’s Maebe, who also grace the RADAR Festival stage this year. Post-rock, math, prog, shred: Maebe celebrates instrumental rock in all its forms, with a triple-guitar wall of sound and hooks that will rattle round your skull for days.

FFO: And So I Watch You From Afar, Plini, Thrice

This Be The Verse are an alternative progressive industrial rock band from London. The brainchild of vocalist, guitarist and producer Cyrus King. The band released their debut album in 2016 and have played shows with the likes of Idles, Tigercub, Employed To Serve and Palm Reader.

  • Telepathy have earned a reputation as one of the most captivating live forces in instrumental metal. Their live show is an immersive, high-intensity cinematic experience—blending the crushing weight of post-metal with the pulse of electronica and the hypnotic rhythms of krautrock. Think Deftones meets Hans Zimmer, Mogwai colliding with Carpenter Brut—a soundscape equally visceral and atmospheric.

    FFO: Tool, Russian Circles, Maybeshewill

Flail are a new five-piece from London. Taking influences from post-rock, doomgaze, post-hardcore, and straight-up rock, Flail are embarking on their first shows and recordings. Think soaring vocals over slowly-building lurches between dead quiet and massive walls of sound.

    FFO: Cave In, Brutus, Mogwai
